Battalion Chief Jack Webb currently serves as the Training Officer for the Department and is responsible for all firefighting, technical rescue, hazardous materials, incident management, and fire prevention training for the Derry Fire Department. Also, BC Webb is responsible for coordinating all recruiting and hiring for the Derry Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Webb started his career with the Derry Fire Department in 1987 as a Firefighter/Paramedic, was promoted to Lieutenant in 1999, was assigned as acting Administrative Captain in 2003, was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2004 and assigned as the shift commander for Battalion 2.
Battalion Chief Webb grew up in Ossipee, New Hampshire. He attended UNH for three years before transferring to the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, graduating with honors in 1985, with an A.S. in Paramedicine. Before working for Derry Fire, BC Webb worked as a Paramedic in Ruidoso and Sandoval County New Mexico.
Battalion Chief Webb is in his fourth and final year of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy. BC Webb has been published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine and helped write regional Mass Casualty Incident Response Plans. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, International Association of Fire Fighters, New Hampshire Association of Fire Chiefs, and serves on a visiting committee at the New Hampshire Fire Academy that is charged with developing a Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Curriculum.
Battalion Chief Webb was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 1995, 2001, and 2005 from the Derry Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was one of three firefighters to receive a unit citation from the New Hampshire Fire Committee of Merit in 1993, for his role in rescuing an unconscious women during a multi-alarm fire. BC Webb lives in Derry and is on the Board of Director’s for a private residential development. His wife Terry and step-daughter Amanda also volunteer with local charities.
